NIIAT representative Oleg Sedin participated in the meeting of the Expert Council on Asia and the Pacific

On December 25, 2019, a regular meeting of the Transport Expert Council in the Asia-Pacific Region was held at the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation under the chairmanship of State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev.

The project activities of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation within the framework of The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) were considered at the Expert Council meeting.

The Head of the Research NIIAT Department “Problems of Training Vehicle Drivers” Oleg Sedin reported at the meeting about the ongoing initiatives in the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

The projects of undoubted interest for the Ministry of Transport of Russia such as “Strategies for the development of low-emission vehicles: supporting the transition to energy-efficient electric transport systems”, “Coordination of efforts to assess the compliance of engines with energy efficiency standards in APEC and ASEAN regions” and “Sustainable mobility: ways and integration of energy and transport sectors in large cities” are being implemented within the framework of the Working Group on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving,

The 2nd International Conference “City and Transport: Security, Efficiency, Sustainability” will be held in Bangkok (Thailand) in 2020. The Russian Federation will present a report at this conference. The scientific director of NIIAT Vadim Donchenko has been identified as a consultant for the Russian Federation and will prepare a national report presenting the best solutions in the field of sustainable urban transport and the relationship of territorial and transport planning in Russia.
