MADI invites you to the master's program "Sustainable Urban Transport"

Traffic congestion, a decrease in the speed of delivery of passengers and cargo, an increase in emissions of pollutants and climatic gases, traffic noise, road traffic accidents lead to losses to society, estimated at 6-8% of GDP per year. Therefore, solving transport problems has become a priority for most of the Administrations of large Russian cities. Problems arise as a result of insufficient coordination and interaction of transport and urban planning policies, policies in the field of environmental protection and public health and the lack of qualified specialists in this area.

During the training, students learn:
-methods for planning sustainable low-carbon urban transport systems;
-methods for assessing, modeling and forecasting transport demand;
-methods for assessing the impact of urban transport on the environment and public health;
-methods for assessing the quality of public passenger transport services, development of quality standards for public passenger transport services;
-methods for optimizing the route network of public transport operating on regular routes;
-mechanisms for managing the mobility of the population in cities, including the implementation of parking policies, the introduction of "low emission zones", the payment for entry to certain urban areas, etc .;
-principles and mechanisms for the implementation of the concept of "joint use" of vehicles (car-sharing, ride-sharing, car-pooling);
-development of active types of movement in cities (cycling and walking, other ways of active movement);
-increasing the environmental safety of vehicles and used motor fuels, the use of alternative fuels and types of energy in road and city transport, environmental problems of the development of electric transport;
-planning of placement and organization of work of multimodal transport interchange hubs. Organization of interaction between various types of urban transport;
-methods for assessing the quality of road traffic, improving its organization and regulation, taking into account environmental criteria;
-the introduction of autonomous and automatic driving in urban transport systems;
-methods of technical and economic analysis of the effectiveness of measures and decisions to increase the sustainability of the functioning of urban transport systems.

The curriculum for the preparation of masters is built on the implementation of the principles of risk management and is fully coordinated with the curriculum for the preparation of masters at the University of Versailles, which makes it possible to implement the principle of "double degree". The practice and development of individual modules of the curriculum by students who speak English or French is carried out at the University of Versailles.

Practical skills acquired:
In the course of training, students are involved in the implementation of specific projects implemented in JSC "NIIAT", MADI, and other organizations on the above issues. Students gain the skills to develop Programs for the integrated development of transport infrastructure, Integrated transport schemes, Integrated schemes and projects for traffic management, Integrated plans for public transport services, quality standards for public transport services. They are involved in carrying out transport surveys in various cities, in the development of transport models and their application.

Areas of employment of graduates:
-departments - departments of transport, urban planning policy, nature management and environmental protection of city, regional, regional, republican administrations:
-the structures of federal ministries and departments responsible for the development and implementation of state policy in the field of transport, land use and territorial development, environmental protection, sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population, technical policy;
-educational, research, public organizations and business structures associated with the implementation of projects in the field of transport planning and modeling, with the development and implementation of new environmental, transport and information technologies.

This international cooperation is carried out within the framework of the Russian-French Partnership of the Pan-European Program of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the World Health Organization on Transport, Environment and Health.

The next admission to the MADI magistracy under the Sustainable Urban Transport program is scheduled for July-August 2021. Limited number of seats.
