Head of the Scientific Department «Research and Development» of NIIAT took part in the Central Russian Economic Forum

27 June 2019

On 26-27 June 2019, Kursk city will host the 8th Central Russian Economic Forum. This year’s Forum theme is “Digital region”.

The core message of the Forum is that the digital transformation should be focused on people, on improving their life quality. The Forum is aimed at answering the question: how can ordinary people benefit from a digital economy, what should be given priority to improve people’s life quality in Central Russia through digital transformation.

It was discussed during the Forum session whether transport can be digital and how digitalization helps in optimizing the transport system of big cities, can “smart” traffic lights and public transport stops solve the problem of traffic jams and which digital solutions can improve the efficiency of urban public transport.

According to the representative of the Scientific and Research Institute of Motor Transport (NIIAT) Tatyana Mikheeva, the digitalization of transport itself is not an end in itself, but it is a means of enhancing the comfort level of residents of a modern digital city. And for this, a complex system approach is needed where the latest technological solutions will be assimilated with the experience already gained.

As a result of the vote the problem of optimizing the operation of public transport and the difficulties with private cars parking in city streets are the main points requiring digitalization.
